Loose Buttons and Super Glue

My coat button is loose. If I don't dig a needle and thread out soon, I'll find I've lost that button.

Buttons are wonderful coat fasteners, and they work nicely with zippers to hold up a pair of jeans. But if you want a permanent bond, threaded buttons won't do the trick. You need super glue.

In 1 Chronicles 22:19, King David is speaking to his son Solomon and the leaders of the people of Israel. He is telling the leaders to help and support Solomon as he builds the Temple of God and serves as king after David. "Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God; arise, therefore, and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy vessels of God into the house that is to be built for the name of the Lord.”

The word "set" is translated in different ways in various versions. The above is from the New American Standard version. The New International Version and English Standard version use "devote". The Hebrew word here is "nathan" and it means "to fasten."

Fasten your heart to God.

The question of the hour: have I fastened my heart to God with a loose button or super glue?
