The Diet

We all know the importance of diet. Keto, vegan, gluten-free. Or in my case, the whatever-is-easy diet. We may disagree on the perfect diet, but we all know a poor diet makes a world of difference in the way we look and feel and in our overall health.
If we know it's true about our bodies, why don't we believe it about our spirits?
But I do.
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but actions speak louder than words, Melissa.
Just like with the food I eat, I tend toward spiritual food that is easy. I take the path of least resistance. Water takes the path of least resistance and changes the landscape from flat and grassy to something that looks like the Grand Canyon. An overabundance of murder mysteries and crime dramas, country music, and social media will leave me parched and carved.
Paul tells is to set our minds on things above (Colossians 3:2). Jennifer Rothschild, in her video Bible series on Hosea, tells us that the Greek word used here is phroneo and means "to consistently keep your mind focused on the Lord."
Consistency is where I fall down. Daily. I guess you could say I'm consistent in my inconsistency!
Rothschild says, "Phroneo means you are more into the Word than you are into the world."
That's not to say that we have to cut mysteries and music and media out of our lives completely. We all need water, right? But the Word needs to be our deepest desire. It's in reading the Word of God that we see and experience and know God's love for us.
So what's your diet these days?
