Not in Vain

Have you ever felt that what you’re doing is pointless, futile, in vain? Cleaning up after the kids as they drop toys and cherrios all over the floor. Trying to make a relationship work when the other person gives nothing back except harsh words and a cold shoulder. Voting for a third-party candidate you really like, in a two-party system.
There is one thing in this world that is never in vain: working for God.

Isaiah 55:11 tells us that God’s word will never return void. If God says it, first of all, it’s true. Secondly, it will be done.
If God calls you to do it, it will accomplish what God designed, even if it doesn’t look like it from our point of view.
1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”
But as we always must do, look at the context of that verse. Paul is talking about the resurrection of believers. These bodies are perishable but will be replaced with the imperishable. It will happen in an instant. Then it will be said, as it was written, “Death is swallowed up in victory. Death, where is thy victory? O Death, where is thy sting?” We have victory in Christ.
Therefore… “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”
Our work is not in vain because we already have the victory.
Keep working, brothers and sisters. Serve your local church. Serve your community. Pray for the nation. When you work for God, your work is not in vain.
